Education
In the church’s missionary work in Africa, education is a central topic. The member churches in the two African countries operate over 600 primary and secondary schools, several high schools (Mawuko, Saboba, Tatale, Hohoe, Badou, Lome-Agbalepedogan and Tado) and teachers’ training centres. In addition, the churches help to establish and operate educational facilities as well as award scholarships.
The church community also supports education through its own Bremen Community Cares organization, a volunteer-based group that tackles projects to improve the town’s quality of life. Among other things, it works to beautify the downtown streets and create destinations that are attractive for locals. The organization is dependent on volunteers and support from the community, including local businesses and partnering organizations. The project is a great example of how good things can happen when people work together, says the president of the group, Matt VanSoest.
